WOW. We did it!
Or rather YOU did it!
Our FM crowd funding campaign came to a close on Monday morning with an amazing £5,140 raised during the intense two week period. We have managed to beat our original target of £3,000. The backing from the local community has truly blown us away.
Thank you so much!
Our Chairman is pretty pleased as well.
Dave Purdey commented:
“This is an extraordinary achievement to reach in 14 days. We are so grateful to the large number of local people who have backed us – and many of them have not asked for anything in return. This demonstrates that there is a real interest in and appetite for a community radio station which can really serve its local listeners.”
The money raised will secure the installation of the equipment needed for Colne Radio to broadcast on FM from early 2017 and upgrade some vital equipment in the station studio.
The next stage of the commissioning process with Ofcom will begin as soon as planning permission is granted.
“Our fundraising efforts will continue as we are a voluntary organisation totally reliant on regular injections of financial support. We are committed to providing a rich and varied on air programme which really reflects and gives a voice to local communities in north-east Essex. Funding will help us to continually improve the quality of our output.”
The crowd funding total was reached with a mixture of individual pledges, community groups backing us and local businesses showing their support. This is precisely the type of partnerships that we aim to achieve as a volunteer community station.
All of the money raised has been key to this campaign being such a success. We would like to thank in particular resident Shamus Gavlin, Cllr Mike Newton of Wivenhoe Town Council, Wivenhoe Regatta and Wivenhoe Helping Hands for some particularly generous offers of financial support.
The next stage of the project is for a short rest to re-charge our energies, and then work towards the delivery of an FM community radio station for North East Essex. Our planning application for the FM mast has already been submitted to Colchester Borough Council.
Our crowd funder team will shortly be in touch about the rewards with the fantastic people who kindly pledged to make our FM ambitions a reality.
