We are excited to announce that Colne Radio will become an FM station on Saturday 8th April. We have been working with the regulator Ofcom over the past few weeks. The station needed to demonstrate that we are ready for FM broadcasting.
We passed the test!
This means that the journey from online to FM is almost complete. It will enable Colne Radio to reach out further into our North East Essex community.
We will be able to produce programmes that promote the organisations that make our area so special. We are also looking forward to developing even better relationships with local businesses.
Our switch to FM status wouldn’t have been possible without the financial support that we have benefitted from. We are grateful to everyone who made our FM crowdfunder a success last summer. The final figure of £5,140 raised in two weeks was very humbling.
Colchester based King Coel Kittens have also helped us out with some funding; likewise for Wivenhoe Soup with the distribution of the Cllr locality budgets.
Colne Radio will soon be able to update with more details about the launch taking place on 8th April. We are also looking forward to sharing information about where you will be able to find us on the FM dial!
We will continue to broadcast online, both before and after the switch to FM. You will be able to listen to our programmes wherever you are if you have an online connection to your mobile, tablet or desktop.
Many thanks to the amazing volunteers who have kept Colne Radio going whilst work on the FM status has been taking place. We are always looking for new volunteers to join our team.
Not long now…
